Jim Herrington, BS

Christian Counseling Mentor

Jim Herrington Wood Christian Counseling

Jim has been involved in pastoral counseling since His graduation from Dallas Seminary in 1984.   The last 15 years, he has been involved in missions in countries of the former Soviet Union.

During his time there, he began to feel the need for better skills in helping people understand the role of the Holy Spirit in changing lives.  God’s command for us to be transformed by the renewing of our minds is well quoted by believers world-wide but understanding the practical ways in which change occurs is often neglected.

In 2012, Jim began work on a master’s degree in Licensed professional Counseling at Liberty University.  He feels that God has called him to help people deal with change in a biblical way.

Jim has a great deal of cross-cultural living experience which allows him to be empathic with people in a variety of life situations.  He is able to assist people with life transitions and times of personal crisis.  He has experience in working through personal and ministry conflicts.  Jim works with individuals and couples, helping them to use biblical truth to move through difficult circumstances.  He relies on scripture as the basis for all counsel provided but understands the role that psychological principles play in the change process.

He is committed to the authority of scripture as the uncompromising standard
for our lives as believers.  Jim maintains that what we think, believe and do has significant impact on who we are.  The ability to understand biblical truth and apply the principles is key to personal change.  He believes that change is ultimately a faith process.

Hebrews 11:6  “And without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is and that He is a reward of those who seek Him.”
