Nancy Mayer, LPC-S
Counselor
The older you get the more you realize that life isn’t about getting your way, or pride, or ego. It’s about connecting with a heart of understanding and love - God’s love.
Today our complicated and fast-paced lives are full of pressures that challenge us in countless ways. “How can I find happiness in my marriage?” or How do I cope with…?” or “Why do I feel so out of control?” are just some of the questions I hear from clients seeking to understand their life’s journey. My clients worry about how they can reach their true potential when they live in a world that sends messages of despair, dispute, and discrepancies. Soul searching is rarely an easy path to take, yet wanting to achieve an emotionally healthy life is usually the motivator which begins the process. What can feel like the end is often just the beginning.
As a Licensed Professional Counselor, I am honored to be chosen to take this journey of discovery with my clients. Having collaborative approach to counseling, gives the client and me an opportunity to learn from one another. I believe life is intended to be shared and enjoyed. Problems can be resolved, good communication can be learned, and new approaches to life and relating can be created.
Nancy has earned a joint Bachelor of Arts degree in Theology and Communication from the University of St. Thomas in Houston and a Master of Arts degree in Counseling from Stephen F. Austin State University in Nacogdoches. She has a two year clinical Pastoral Education certification and worked as a Hospital Chaplain at St. Luke’s Episcopal Hospital, Texas Children’s Hospital, and Memorial Hermann Hospital in Houston. Nancy’s greatest joys are spending quiet time with God and sharing life with her family and friends.
