YOUR STRUGGLES (based on a true story)

Why does your life keep falling apart? Why do you keep making mistakes and poor choices? It seems that someone has written this script called "Life" and you would do anything to get your hands on it.

As we go through trials, we hear those useless platitudes and pick-me-up lines and when we do, we feel like someone just handed us a tool that we either don't understand or have very little use for. Those well-meaning people may not be aware that we don't want to be "picked up" --- We want clarity. Clarity as to: Why this keeps happening? Why can't we ever seem to make our lives work? Why do we keep making bad decisions? What's wrong with the world?

Maybe you struggle with depression over how your life has turned out. You didn't know it would all come to this. You expected a John Hughes movie --- a "happily ever after". You wanted the kind of life someone would write a book about. Well we have news for you...

Someone already did.

At Wood Christian Counseling we are convinced that the main reason people fumble through life, lose hope and stay confused is they don't realize they are already a part of a story. A really good story. One that has a glorious ending. Being able to handle life's struggles and navigate this often tumultuous and crippling terrain that we call life, is all about knowing this grand narrative and seeing our purpose in it. Until we do, we will continue to trip and loose our handle on everything from our family to our jobs, simply because we are trying to assemble a complex puzzle in the dark. Instead of living our lives as a part of this beautiful drama, we try to write our own and it doesn't work. Tom Wolfe - American author and journalist put it this way:

“Everybody, everybody everywhere, has his own movie going, his own scenario, and everybody is acting his movie out like mad, only most people don’t know that is what they’re trapped by, their little script.”

It doesn't have to be this way!
